Beardsley, Samuel, approximately 1792-
Beardsley was from Oswgo, N.Y. and was a commander of the 48th New York State Militia in 1857. He became a Lt. Colonel during the Civil War with the 24th New York Infantry. During 1861 he was with McClellan's forces near Washington DC and was with a division commanded by McDowell stationed at Upton Hall, Va. In 1862 he was stationed at Booth Station, Aquia Creek, Rappahannock and Warrenton, Va. and participated in the 2nd battle of Bull Run. By 1863 he saw action around Fredericksburg, Va. and the Chancellorsville Campaign.
