Jacoby, Neil H. (Neil Herman), 1909-1979
Neil H. Jacoby (1909-1979) was born in Dundurn, Saskatchewan, Canada. He received his B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan in 1930, and became a naturalized United States citizen in 1937. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1938, and from 1938 to 1948, he was a professor and administrator at the same university. From 1940 to 1945, he was a member of the Research Staff of the National Bureau for Economic Research. Additionally, from 1942 to 1948, he was a member of the Research Advisory Board of the Committee for Economic Development. From 1948 to 1968, he served as Dean of the University of California Graduate School of Business Administration, during which time he also served as a Professor. Jacoby also worked as a Consultant for the Rand Corporation 1951 to 1961, and from 1953 to 1955, he was a member of the U.S. PresidentÂ’s Council of Economic Advisors. In 1957, he became the U.S. Representative to the U.S. Economic and Social Council.
