Whiting, William Joseph, 1882-1973
Inventor of Whiting Filterlite (a light filter); studied engineering, pure physics, and biology at Yale (1905-1910); during World War I, performed special optical work for the U.S. Navy and afterwards continued his work for the Navy, researching dyes.
