University of Washington. Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Alumni Association.
The University of Washington School of Librarianship Alumni Association was founded in 1916, five years after the founding of the UW School of Librarianship. The mission of the organization was to provide fellowship among graduates of the library school, and to provide support for the objectives and goals of the school. Reflecting changes in the name of the school, the association changed its name to the UW Graduate School of Library and Information Science Alumni Association in the mid 1980s. In the late 1990s (later than the period documented in these records), the group's name was changed to UW School of Library and Information Science Alumni Association, and the change to the organization's current name, the UW Information School Alumni Association, occurred after the school changed its name to the UW Information School in 2001.
