Michigan State Housing Development Authority
The Michigan Legislature established the Michigan State Housing Development Authority through Public Act 346 of 1966. Its purpose is to improve the supply of safe and sanitary housing for low income and moderate-income families. The authority finances housing through the sale of both taxable and tax exempt notes and bonds, the proceeds of which are loaned for home improvement, the acquisition of new or existing single-family residences, and the financing of multi-family rental house developments. The authority also administers federal housing programs.
