Johns, William Douglas, b. 1858.
William Douglas Johns, journalist and prospector, was raised in Chicago and served as a correspondent for The Chicago Record during the heyday of the gold rush.
Johns arrived in Circle City (Alaska) in 1895 and wrote a series of articles for his newspaper at the start of the rush. He also staked out claim No. 12 on the El Dorado which he later regrettably sold.
