Pinto, Joseph, 1915-1997
Joseph Pinto was born in Pennsylvania on September 18, 1915. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, as a 1st lieutenant overseas. He also served in the following capacities: staff art instructor for the Barnes Foundation 1933 to 1941; color photography magazines, 1938 to 1950; and visual information specialist at the State Department, 1950 to 1953. He was hired by the United States Information Agency (USIA) in August 1953; he served as a staff photographer for USIA from 1964 into the 1970s. He was married to Yolanda Ruffine. Pinto died on January 13, 1997.
