Alcino, Joseph F., 1911-1994
Joseph F. Alcino was an analytical chemist employed by E.R. Squibb and Sons at the Squibb Institute for Medical research. At the outset of WWII he played a key role in the deployment of penicillin by isolating its chemical structure, which enabled the drug to go into mass production. Joseph F. Alcino was born in the Bronx 1911 and died in Metuchen, NJ in 1994.
