Ghirardelli Chocolate Company
In 1852 Domenico Ghirardelli started, in San Francisco, Calif., what was to become known as the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. In 1962 the factory buildings near San Francisco's northern waterfront were sold and eventually turned into a shopping center. In 1963 the chocolate company was sold to the Golden Grain Macaroni Company.
