Arkansas. Office of the Secretary of State
Kelly Bryant served as Arkansas Secretary of State from 1963 until his death in 1975. He was in the middle of his seventh term and was planning a re-election bid in 1976 when he died. He was born in Shawnee, Okla., in 1909 and his parents moved to Hope, Ark., where he was raised. He was in the newspaper business until his involvement in state publishing contracts in 1958 and his election as Secretary of State in 1962. He served as president of the National Association of Secretaries of State in 1971.
