Cyril Ernest Wright
Cyril Ernest Wright (1907-1980) was educated at George Watson's College, Edinburgh, before attending Edinburgh University (M.A., 1929) and Clare College, Cambridge (B.A., 1931; Ph.D., 1936). He joined the Department of Manuscripts at the British Museum in 1933, where he became Deputy Keeper in 1955, and Senior Deputy Keeper in 1961, retiring in 1972. Wright published writings on bibliography, palaeography, heraldry, and Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon literature. He became a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1941.
