Gleason, Madeline
Gleason was born Jan. 26, 1913; although employed by a brokerage firm (1944-68), she was a poet, playwright, and painter; founder of San Francisco Poetry Guild; organized the first poetry festival in America (1947); taught master workshop in poetry at the Poetry Center, San Francisco State College (1959-60); her published works include The metaphysical needle (1949), Concerto for bell and telephone (1957) and contributions to various anthology publications.
