Bosque del Apache Land Grant (N.M.)
The Bosque del Apache Land Grant, in Socorro County, New Mexico was given to Antonio Sandoval, for services rendered, upon his petition to the Governor of New Mexico Manual Armijo, in November 1845. After Sandoval’s death, his executor Nicolas Lucero, was authorized to sell parts of the land.
The Bosque del Apache land, “woods of the Apache” in Spanish, is now a wildlife preserve in southern New Mexico on the Rio Grande river. It is one of the preeminent sites in the USA for photographing migratory birds.
