Stefán Einarsson, 1897-1972.

Stefâan Einarsson was a philologist and professor at The Johns Hopkins University. He was born and educated in Iceland and received his doctorate from the University of Oslo, Norway (1927). He came to The Johns Hopkins University as a research fellow in 1927. He was appointed instructor in English Philology (1928), and became professor of Scandinavian Philology (1945). He was appointed Vice Consul (later Consul) of Iceland in Baltimore (1942). Einarsson was recognized as an authority on Old and Middle English, Icelandic, and German dialects. Stefâan Einarsson died in 1972.
