Goodyear-Zeppelin Corporation
The Goodyear-Zeppelin Corporation was formed in 1923 as a partnership between the Goodyear Corporation and the Zeppelin Company to build rigid-frame airships in the United States. The company built an enormous hangar in Wingfoot Lake, near Akron Ohio, for this purpose. In 1929, Goodyear-Zeppelin built a new airship dock in Los Angeles, the subject of this collection, which eventually became known as the Wingfoot Plant. Goodyear-Zeppelin built not only dirigibles but also blimps, F4U Corsair fighters, and railroad cars.
