Bennett, Henry Gordon, 1887-1962
Lieutenant-General Henry Gordon Bennett, 1887-1962, soldier, actuary and orchardist, served in the A.I.F. as commander of the 6th Battalion, 1914-1915 in the Dardanelles, and as G.O.C. of the 3rd Infantry Brigade, 1916 in France. In 1941-1942 he commanded the 8th Division in Malaya, and in 1942-1944 G.O.C. of the 3rd Australian Army Corps in Western Australia. In peace time, he served in the C.M.F. and the Voluntary Defence Corps.
