Florida. Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission
The Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission was created in 1935 (Ch. 17016, Laws) to supersede the Dept. of Game and Fresh Water Fish (1927, Ch. 11838, Laws). The post of State Game and Fish Commissioner was originally created in 1913 (Ch. 6535, Laws) in the Dept. of Game and Fish. In 1969, the Commission was placed under the nominal control of the Dept. of Natural Resources (Ch. 69-106, Laws). In 1977, the Commission was reconstituted as an independent entity (Ch. 77-204, Laws). The Commission is responsible for the management, protection and conservation of wild animal life and fresh water aquatic life in Florida (Article IV, Section 9, 1968 Constitution).
