George, Luvenia A., 1930-

Luvenia A. George is an ethnomusicologist and music educator with a B.M.Ed. from Howard University and M.Ed. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Maryland. Author of Teaching the Music of Six Different Cultures (World Music Press), a pioneering work in world music education, she has taught vocal and general music in grades K-12 and directed school choirs noted for excellence. As coordinator of the Duke Ellington Youth Project at the Smithsonian Institution, she coauthored the award-winning curriculum kit on which the project was based.
