Psi Beta
Psi Beta is a national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges. Founded in 1977 by Carol Tracy, the society established eleven charter chapters and convened its first National Council in 1981. Psi Beta was granted American Psychological Association (APA) affiliate status in 1988, and American Psychological Society (APS) affiliate membership in 1991. In 1994, Psi Beta was granted membership to the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). In September 1994, there were 111 chapters and 8,086 members of Psi Beta. The mission statement of Psi Beta is "to promote professional development of psychology students in two-year colleges through promotion and recognition of excellence in scholarship, leadership, research, and community service."
