Educator Lueco Gunter (1879-1922) was a native of Wagener (Aiken County, S.C.); graduate, South Carolina College [present-day University of South Carolina], Class of 1900; superintendent of schools at Beaufort and Rock Hill, S.C.; assistant state superintendent of education; state supervisor of rural schools; chair of education, Furman University, Greenville, S.C.; husband of Laura Kershaw Perry.
