Browner, Carol M. (Carol Martha), 1955-
Carol M. Browner was born December 16, 1955, in Florida. She married Michael Podhorzer. In 1977, she graduated from the University of Florida and then earned a degree from its law school. In 1980, she served as General Counsel for the Florida House of Representatives Government Operations Committee. She then worked for Citizen Action as its associate director. Between 1986 and 1991, she served as a key aide to Senator Lawton Chiles and Senator Al Gore. She headed the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation from 1991 to 1993. She became Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency on January 22, 1993 and served until January 19, 2001. On March 27, 2001, she was elected to the National Audubon Society's Board of Directors.
