Hosmer, Herbert B., 1913-1986.
Herbert B. Hosmer was born in 1913. He was a 1935 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He participated in the Harvard Columbus Expedition in 1939 as first mate of the Capitania. The expedition tracked the second voyage of Columbus. Hosmer joined the Navy in 1940 and served as a blimp pilot, retiring as a commander in 1961.
