Thompson, Mark V., 1942-

Mark Thompson received his undergraduate education in economics at Notre Dame University, graduating with a B.A. in 1961. He completed graduate work at Cornell University where he earned an M.S. (1963) and Ph.D. (1966) specializing in collective bargaining, labour law, and labour movements. Thompson joined the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration in 1971 and served as director of the University of British Columbia's Institute of Industrial Relations from 1974 to 1977. He has served as an arbitrator in a number of labour disputes in British Columbia.
