Kane, Douglas H.

Douglas H. Kane was a nationally renowned environmental architect and scholar who focused on ecologically-based design. Born circa 1947 in Quincy, Massachusetts, he received degrees in environmental design and landscape architecture from the University of Massachusetts and University of Pennsylvania. He was conferred charter membership to Temple University's Sigma Lambda Alpha Charter of the National Honors Society of Landscape Architecture. As director of the Awbury Arboretum from 1978-1983, Kane developed a master plan for the arboretum's future growth. He taught as visiting faculty in landscape architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Minnesota before joining the faculty of Delaware Valley College in 1989. Doug Kane passed away in 2002.
