Crowther, J. G. (James Gerald), 1899-
Schoolteacher, lecturer on scientific and public affairs, and advisor to technical and scientific publishers; Manchester Guardian's first scientific correspondent. Appointed first director of the science department of the British Council during World War II. After the war, Crowther held high office in the World Federation of Scientific workers.
