Residents of Charleston and Laurens Counties, S.C.; Franklin Harper Elmore was member of law firm of Elmore and Edwards (Walterboro, S.C.); he was a member of U.S. Senate, 1836-1839 and 1850; president of Bank of S.C., 1839-1850; member of Nullification Convention, 1832-1833; son of John Archer Elmore and Sarah Saxon Elmore; husband of Harriet Chesnut Taylor.
