Moody, Robert Andrew (fl.1881-1882: lawyer, law graduate of the University of Glasgow)

Robert Andrew Moody was born in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, in c1864 . He first matriculated as an Arts student at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 1879, graduating MA in 1883, during which time he attended the Moral Philosophy class of Edward Caird. In 1888, he gained his LLB from Glasgow University. He went to work as a lawyer (WS) in Glasgow.

Edward Caird (1835-1908) was appoint Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Glasgow in 1886, leaving the post in 1893 when he was appointed Master of Balliol College, Oxford. In 1900, he was appointed to the Gifford Lectureship in Natural Theology at the University of Glasgow for a period of two years. He died in 1908 and in 1909 the Edward Caird Chair in Political Philosophy was established through monies raised for his commemoration.
