Poston, William H., 1881-1950

William Henry Poston MD, was born March 1, 1881 in Pamplico, SC, and died on November 6, 1950. He was married to Mary Dobson Poston with whom he had two children and three grandchildren. Poston graduated from the Medical College of the State of South Carolina in 1909 and received his license to practice that same year. He first practiced medicine in Savage, Florence County, SC, and later in Pamplico, also in Florence County, for forty-one years. The 1934 American Medical Association Directory listed proctology as Poston's practice area. Poston was a member of the Florence County Medical Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Proctologic Society. Poston was also a member of the Socastee Gun Club, the Pamplico Masonic Lodge No. 324, and the Omar Temple of Charleston.
