Dorgan, C. Howard.
Dorgan began working at Appalachian State University in 1971. He has served as the President and Executive Secretary of the Southern States Communication Association, President of the Carolinas Speech Communication Association, Editor of the Southern Communication Journal, and President-Elect of the Appalachian Studies Association. He is a past President of the Appalachian Studies Association and an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Appalachian Studies. Dorgan's books include Giving glory to God in Appalachia (1987), The Old Regular Baptist in Central Appalachia (1989), The Airwaves of Zion (1993), and In the hands of a happy God (1997). He won the Thomas Wolfe Literary Award in 1993.
