Established in 1896, the Committee was responsible for overseeing the preparation of the annual University budget for submission to the Board. Before 1922 it supervised the bookkeeping and financial records of the University and monitored individual University accounts. After 1922 these functions were absorbed by the Committee on Finance and Investment.
