Gill, John A

John A. Gill was from Asessippi, Manitoba Canada. He and 12 others made their way to Dawson City to participate in the Klondike Gold Rush in 1898. Gill & Co. was formed for staking their mining claims and certificates of the mines that they worked. By July 25 1899 Gill had returned home to Manitoba. It is believed that he and his four partners recovered about $175.00 from the claims they worked for the year. A crooked official had refused to record one of the claims Gill had staked. After returning home, Gill found out that the claim had turned out to be quite rich.

From the description of Miner's diary, 1898-1899. (Washington State Library, Office of Secretary of State). WorldCat record id: 424511651
