Keely, H. Edgar (Henry Edgar), 1882-1957
Henry Edgar Keely, Philadelphia, Pa., ophthalmologist and U.S. Army surgeon, was born in 1882. He died of carcinoma of the lung with metastasis on 15 Aug. 1957, in Pottstown, Pa.
Keely received a P.D. from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, 1904, and an M.D. from Jefferson Medical College, 1908. After completing his education, he opened an ophthalmological practice in Philadelphia and was on the staffs of the Charity, Jefferson, Polyclinic, and Wills hospitals. He served in World War I, then entered the regular U.S. Army in 1920 and was stationed in the Canal Zone, San Antonio, Tex., Hot Springs National Park, Ark., Fort Sheridan, Ill., and Washington, D.C. Keely retired from the Army with the rank of Colonel in 1946.
