Robert, Louis-Rémy 1811-1882
Louis-Rémy Robert became head of the glass-painting atelier at the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres when he was only twenty-two. He went on to become head of the painting workshop (1847), and ultimately director of the Manufacture (1871). Along with Henri-Victor Regnault, (director of the Manufacture from1852-1871), Robert was one of the central figures of a group of non-professional artistic photographers centered in Sèvres, and was among the vanguard of photographic practitioners in France who started making paper photographs around 1850.
