Morando, Otto.

Tenor and teacher Otto Morando (1869-1953) was born in Prague and was active as a voice teacher in Canada before moving to California in 1924 to become a vocal coach to members of the film community.

Morando trained in Austria and Italy and sang professionally in Europe before becoming a teacher. After immigrating to North America, he taught privately in Toronto and at the Canadian Academy of Music from 1913-1924, where his students included several young singers who went on to become prominent in Canada. Morando later settled in the Los Angeles area and became a vocal coach, who numbered many Hollywood actors among his clients, including Franchot Tone.
