Roy, V. L. (Victor Leander), 1871-1968

Victor Leander Roy, native of Mansura, Louisiana, and an early graduate of Louisiana State University was a prominent Louisiana educator for nearly forty-six years. His employment included public school teacher, superintendent of parish school systems, and Louisiana's first agriculture agent. He formed the Corn Club, a youth agriculture group which later developed into the 4-H club.

He served as president of the State Normal School, Natchitoches, La., from 1911-1929. During his tenure the school became a four year college and the name was changed to Northwestern State College. After leaving Northwestern State College in 1929, he held the position of bursar at LSU until 1934 when he became assistant to William B. Hatcher, National Youth Administrator for Louisiana. He retired from public life in 1936.
