Jones, George Fenwick, 1842-1876.
George Fenwick Jones (1842-1876), of Savannah, Georgia, served as secretary to William L. Yancey, the Confederate States of America Commissioner to London. As a boy, Jones studied for two years in Bellerive, Switzerland and kept a journal of a twenty-one day holiday in Switzerland. In 1871, Jones married Anna Wylly Habersham and together had three children: Josephine Noble Jones, Mary Savage Jones, and George Fenwick Noble Jones II. In 1876, after five years of marriage, Jones died of apoplexy.
