Established in 1890, the Committee on Organization and Faculties was superseded in 1897 by the Committee on Instruction and Equipment. It had responsibility for monitoring the development of basic academic policies; for authorizing faculty appointments and promotions; and for recommending appropriations for the purchase of educational equipment.
