Warner & Swasey Company.
Founded by Worcester Reed Warner and Ambrose Swasey in 1880 to manufacture high-grade special machinery and machine tools, they set new standards for the manufacture of astronomical telescopes and other observatory equipment. They constructed, among others, the telescope for the Lick Observatory (1883), Kenwood Observatory, the U.S. Naval Observatory (1893), Yerkes Observatory (1897), Dominion Astrophysical Observatory in Canada (1916), Argentina National Observatory (1926), and the Case Institute Observatory in 1941.
