Bethany Lutheran Church (Spanaway, Wash.)

Bethany Lutheran had its beginnings when a small group of settlers met to organize the First Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Muck in October of 1898. They purchased an 18-acre tract of land and had a church completed in the fall of 1900. The church was dedicated June 8, 1902. The services were first held in Norwegian, but later this practice was discontinued. The property was transferred to Bethany English Lutheran Church of Muck Valley, organized in 1916. During the 1940s services were held in a small church the congregation had purchased at Weyerhauser, about six miles south of Bethany.
