Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church (Helena, Mont.)
Although Our Redeemer’s was organized in 1959, it had a pre-history dating back to the gold-mining days in the late 1800s. Norwegian Synod congregations were established in 1889 in Helena, in 1892 in East Helena, and in 1893 in Marysville. The Marysville congregation dissolved in 1905, the East Helena congregation in 1909, and the Helena congregation in 1927.
Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church began as a mission congregation of the ELC. The first unit was completed in September of 1958 with actual organization taking place January 8, 1959. Charter members numbered about 120. A second unit was added during Rev. Wahlin’s pastorate. During Rev. Anderson’s ministry the third and final unit has been added.
