Hay, Stephen N.
Stephen N. Hay was born in Philadelphia on October 4, 1925. He received M.A. Harvard, 1953 and Ph.D. Harvard, 1957. He traveled and researched in the Middle East and India. He was an Instructor to Assistant Professor of History, University of Chicago, 1956-1964; Research Associate and Tutor, Harvard University, 1964-1966; and Associate Professor to Professor of History, University of California, Santa Barbara, 1966-1991. Taught courses and seminars on the history of India and Southeast Asia, "Gandhi and Modern India", "Great Minds in World History". Published and edited numerous books and articles.
