McQueen, Alexander G., 1830-1906.

From Keokuk Iowa, mustered in as Captain and advanced to Colonel of the 1st Iowa Cavalry Regiment serving throughout the Civil War. Served in Texas for a short time after the war with General G.A. Custer. Custer later accused the soldiers and officers of the 1st of much improper behavior. McQueen and Captain Morrill both refuted his accusations. Brevet Brigadier General in October 1866. Appointed Collector in 1868 for the Revenue Department of the first district in Iowa. He was married to Margaret Falconer in 1867. Lived his later years in Illinois.
