Moe, Donald Jacques, 1922-

Donald Jacques Moe was born in 1922 in Milwaukee, WI. He entered the U.S. Naval Academy on 6 September 1940 and graduated on 6 June 1943. Before reporting to his assigned ship, he went with the other members of his class on a June through August 1943 tour of naval air bases in Florida. He reported to the USS Maury in California. In September 1943 he attended Radar School at Camp Catlin in Hawaii. He was assigned then to the Combat Information Center about the Maury. The USS Maury sailed for combat duty in the central Pacific and participated in the Marshall Islands campaign, the Marianas campaign and the First and Second Battles of the Philippine Seas. In 1945, the USS Maury returned to Norfolk, VA, for decommissioning. Moe then reported to the 6th Fleet. In February 1947, he was discharged from the Navy and began graduate school at George Washington University on the GI Bill. He graduated with a MA in Foreign Affairs in 1949 and began his career with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He attended the U.S. Army War College in 1963 and retired from the CIA on 1 July 1973.
