Weston, Plowden, 1739-1827.
Georgetown County, South Carolina rice plantation owner. Plowden Weston came from Warwickshire, England, to the colony of South Carolina in 1757 and established himself in trade in Charleston (S.C.). He bought Laurel Hill Plantation in 1775 and adjoining lands in 1777. Plowden Weston accumulated a great fortune, the bulk of which he left to two sons, Dr. Paul Weston (1784-1837) and Francis Marion Weston. Francis Marion Weston lived at Laurel Hill Plantation. His son, Plowden C.J. Weston, was tutored by Rev. Alexander Glennie from 1828 to 1831.
