Groh, Edward.

Born June 02, 1837 New York (N.Y.) Attended first ANS meeting April 06, 1858 New York (N.Y.) Curator of Archaeology 1890 1891 American Numismatic Society (N.Y.) One of the founding members of the ANS, Groh served as librarian (1864-65) and Curator (1859-79 and 1897-1905). The Society's first special fund for the purchase of coins was named in his honor.

Edward Groh was a founder, curator and life member of the American Numismatic Society.

Born in New York City on June 2, 1837, Groh worked in both the ship-chandlery and tobacco businesses. He was also a lifelong student of natural history, with a particular focus on entomology, and of numismatics since the age of seventeen.
