Finch, Tamara

Tamara Tchinarova was born in 1919 in a Russian province that later became Romania. In Europe she danced with Ballet Russes companies. Tchinarova first came to Australia in 1936 on tour with the Monte Carlo Russian Ballet and later in 1938 with the Covent Garden Russian Ballet. She remained in Australia at the conclusion of the Covent Garden tour in 1939 and shortly afterwards met and married the Australian actor Peter Finch. In Australia she danced with companies such as the Borovansky Ballet. Tamara Finch moved to England in 1949 and began a second career as an interpreter and dance writer.
