Bundschu, Henry A., 1887-1978

Henry A. Bundschu (1887-1978), lawyer and personal friend of Harry S. Truman, was born in Independence, Missouri. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan in 1911. From 1924 to 1928, he worked as an attorney for the Sheriff of Jackson County, Missouri. In 1926, he created the law partnership of Wilson, Bundschu & Bailey. In 1936 and 1937, Bundschu served as Election Commissioner of Jackson County. From 1938 to 1957, he served as Federal Bankruptcy referee for the Western Missouri District. In 1948, he wrote "Harry S. Truman, the Missourian" for the Kansas City Star. On September 15, 1973, Bundschu was honored by the Jackson County Historical Society. He died in Independence on May 4, 1978.
