Journalist; community activist, volunteer, and social reformer; recipient of the YWCA Friend of the Child award (1990); elected to the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame (1990); recipient with her husband of the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from the University of Iowa (1995); resident of Washington, Iowa.
