Dame family.
Residing in Farmington, New Hampshire, the Dame family consisted of Jeremiah and Susan Horne Dame and their son William Horne Dame (1819-1884). Jeremiah was a Representative and Senator in State Legislature, while his son William, through the influence of his uncle, Janvrin Hayes, became a member of the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a Mormon, William was a pioneer in colonizing southern Utah helping found Parowan; going to England as a Mormon missionary; serving as a colonel in the Iron County Militia and was involved in the Mountain Meadows Massacre, 1857; he also served as a representative to the Utah Territorial Legislature; was president of the Parowan stake; and served as the county recorder for Iron County from 1877 until his death.
