Carrington family.

Henry Beebee Carrington was born in Wallingford, Conn. in 1824. He graduated from Yale in 1845 and Yale Law School in 1847. He practiced law in Ohio. During Civil War he was appointed colonel of the 18th U.S. Infantry (1861) and brigadier general (1862) and supervised military tribunals in Indiana and Ohio which were later ruled illegal. After the Civil War he established Fort Philip Kearney and led military campaigns against Sioux Indians and made a treaty with Flathead Indians. He wrote several American history texts. He died in Hyde Park, Mass. in 1912.
